1. Review of the Global AC Market in the First Half of 2018
JARN recently interviewed major air conditioner manufacturers and related associations around the world. Based on these interviews, we prepared this report on the global air conditioner market in the first half of 2018 and are proud to share it with our global readers. JARN estimates that the global room air conditioner (RAC) market in the first half of 2018 increased by 7% compared with the same period of last year.

2. European AC Market in the First Half of 2018
The European RAC market has seen a slight increase of 3% compared with last year. Weather conditions were similar to those experienced last year, and the long period of intense heat that occurred in Europe two years ago did not occur this year. However, this year, the temperature in southern parts of Europe, the major air conditioning market, only started to rise in late June. Sales have finally started to increase.

3. US AC Market in the First Half of 2018
Driven by economic growth, the U.S. air conditioner market developed smoothly.  According to shipment data from Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), sales of unitary systems grew by 6.1% in the first half of 2018. In the ductless segment, window, mini-split, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems increased by 6%, 8%, and 11% respectively.

4. Southeast Asian AC market in the First Half of 2018
Southeast Asia’s RAC market has been affected by the weather for two consecutive years, causing a continuous decline in sales. According to JARN estimates, in the first half of this year, the Southeast Asian RAC market was 19% lower than last year.

5. Chinese AC market in the First Half of 2018
The Chinese RAC market continued to grow, with slower growth of no more than 10%. Mini-VRFs for residential applications grew by 13%, indicating a significant decrease compared with the previous period. The Chinese RAC and mini VRF markets may be slowing due to the government’s restrictions on real estate policies, which impact the air conditioning market and generally become obvious within one or two years.
