AHRI Releases June 2018 Shipment Data

Residential Storage Water Heaters

U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters for June 2018 increased 12.9%, to 409,525 units, up from 362,619 units shipped in June 2017. Residential electric storage water heater shipments increased 13.2% in June 2018 to 378,239 units, up from 334,234 units shipped in June 2017.

Year-to-date U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters increased 8.1%, to 2,410,935 units, compared to 2,231,051 units shipped during that same period in 2017. Residential electric storage water heater shipments increased 6.3% year-todate, to 2,222,875 units, compared to 2,091,748 units shipped during the same period in 2017.

Central Air Conditioners and Airsource Heat Pumps

U.S. shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totaled 1,120,459 units in June 2018, up 3.8% from 1,079,859 units shipped in June 2017. U.S. shipments of central air conditioners increased 3.1%, to 783,705 units, up from 760,247 units shipped in June 2017. U.S. shipments of air-source heat pumps increased 5.4 %, to 336,754 units, up from 319,612 units shipped in June 2017.

Year-to-date combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps increased 6.1%, to 4,654,900 units, up from 4,386,386 units shipped in during the same period in 2017. Year-to-date shipments of central air conditioners increased 4%, to 3,049,440 units, up from 2,932,294 units shipped during the same period in 2017. The year-to-date total for air-source heat pump shipments increased 10.4%, to 1,605,460, up from 1,454,092 units shipped during the same period in 2017.

Commercial Storage Water Heaters

Commercial gas storage water heater shipments increased 6.3% in June 2018, to 9,095 units, up from 8,555 units shipped in June 2017. Commercial electric storage water heater shipments decreased 7.9% in June 2018, to 12,333 units, down from 13,396 units shipped in June 2017.

Year-to-date U.S. shipments of commercial gas storage water heaters increased 5.2%, to 51,812 units, compared with 49,245 units shipped during the same period in 2017. Year-to-date commercial electric storage water heater shipments increased 0.8%, to 72,516 units, up from 71,948 units shipped during the same period in 2017.
