The economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) grew moderately in 2011 due to higher oil prices and trade with Asia. Sectors such as real estate, however, have not yet fully recovered from the 2009 debt crisis, and this has reduced demand for air conditioners. Market scale in 2011 came to 660,000 units, down 6% over the previous year.
