Mitsubishi Electric Launches Next-generation SiC Inverter AC

On August 24, Mitsubishi Electric announced the launch in October of air conditioners equipped with inverters with silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors. These air conditioners will be the first in the world to adopt SiC inverters. Last November, the company announced that it had successfully developed an SiC inverter that reduces power loss by 90% *1 compared with conventional Silicon (Si) inverters. Since this announcement, it has pushed forward commercialization of application technologies.
