Gree, New Challenger in Chiller Market

Chinese companies are transitioning from a ‘Made in China’ to a ‘Created in China’ paradigm, and Gree is on the forefront of this change. While strengthening its leading position in the room air conditioner (RAC) and light commercial air conditioner segments, Gree has also recently made several breakthroughs in the chiller segment. Increased demand on the construction energy conservation in China has accelerated growth in its centrifugal chiller market. Leading Chinese manufacturers have therefore begun to develop the chiller market, which has been traditionally dominated by U.S. manufacturers. JARN interviewed Huang Hui, vice president of Gree, to learn more about developments at Gree and trends in the Chinese centrifugal chiller market.

Midea’s Centrifugal Cuts Refrigerant 40%
In March, a high energy-efficiency two-stage, full falling- film centrifugal chiller developed by Midea passed accreditation by a committee composed of members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and experts from the Architectural Society of China (ASC), China Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Association (CRAA), and China Association of Refrigeration (CAR).
