Buildings urgently need to clear the requirements of the Thermal Regulation (RT 2012), and a growing number of consumers are adopting ATW heat pumps to keep down overall home costs. ATW heat pumps used for heating are able to meet the new energy-efficiency standards.
France is the largest ATW market in Europe, and total sales of ATW heat pumps increased by 7.2% in 2015 against 2014, with higher installation of ATW models in new homes compensating for lower sales in the renovation market. However, sharp growth is not expected in the French market, and this has caused the European market as a whole to see slower growth. Association Francaise pour les Pompes A Chaleur (AFPAC) or the French heat pumps association has released data on 2015 heat pump sales for capacities ranging from 2 to 50 kW. Sales of ATW heat pumps with capacities from 10 to 20 kW, which is the range designed for poorly insulated renovated homes, fell by 10%.
