Social requirements for refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment are becoming increasingly complex and strict, reflecting the situation in which the prevention of ozone depletion is urgently needed, global warming must be stopped, the global market is expanding rapidly and becoming borderless, and international competitive power must be strengthened.
The global environmental issue, among others, is most imminent. Interest in ecofriendly products is increasing to a greater and greater extent, and refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment is being subjected to various legal regulations in order to reduce the burden on the environment on a global scale. Steps toward greater energy savings by adopting alternative refrigerants, reducing the amount of emissions into the atmosphere, and utilizing renewable types of energy are accelerating. Under these circumstances, the uptake of heat pumps is expected to expand steadily in various fields, since heat pumps are positioned as a technology that utilizes renewable energy.
