Use of Cooling/Heating Capacity and Cooling/Heating Power, and VRF

Air conditioner load is the total of the difference in temperature between the indoor and outdoor air, the indoor room load, and solar radiation load. The sum of these three types of load is not constant, and the air conditioning system’s cooling/heating capacity must be higher than the sum total of these three types of load. In fixed-speed systems, the excess capacity is matched to the load using an on/off cycle of thermostat operation. In other words, when a non-inverter air conditioner is operating at part-load, its total cooling/heating power is the product of its cooling/heating capacity multiplied by the running time in operation. Its total power consumption is the product of the load-based electrical power consumption multiplied by time in operation.
