SWEP Supports Fouling and Freezing Concerns with New Concept
2017/07/15
In many markets, fouling and freezing are identified as major issues when using brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) in reversible systems. SWEP has now been able to define an optimized operating window and setup for a BPHE to address these common concerns.

SWEP can provide antifouling and anti-freezing guidelines and establish BPHE capability with regards to operational boundary conditions. This work has also supported BPHE design with reference to fouling and freezing. The BPHE is evaluated through a test to define the operating envelope to avoid freezing, with respect to water temperature, evaporation temperature and mass flow ratio, after which optimized and unique set points can be presented for each BPHE.
