1. Midea and Carrier to Start Joint Poduction in India
Midea announced that it would begin air conditioner production in India in a joint venture with Carrier. The two companies will invest a total of approximately US$ 33 million in the joint venture and target production of 1 million units annually.

2. High AC Inventory Level Revealed in China
At the end of 2011 refrigeration year in China*, the total inventory of both factories and distribution channels was about 16.2 million units, the highest level in the last 5 years, accounting for about 14.2% of the annual sales volume of the same year.

3. EPA Approves 3 Alternative Refrigerants to Replace HFCs
The U.S.EPA has added three hydrocarbons propane, isobutane , and a chemical known as R441A, as acceptable alternatives in household and small commercial refrigerators and freezers through EPA鈥檚 program*.

4. U.S. New-home Production Rises 9.3% in November
Production of new single-family homes and aprtments rose 9.3% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 685,000 units in November. This marks the fastest pace of housing starts since October of 2008.

5. Major AC Brands in China Compete on Heat Pump Technology
In a winter season, all major air conditioner brands have focused on promotional efforts for their heating products. Gree has introduced the self-developed EVI heating technology and Midea recently launched its 鈥榓ll DC-inverter鈥 strategy.
