1. 2010 Record Sales and 2011 Uncertain Prospects in Russia
Due to abnormally warm weather in 2010, sales in the Russin RAC and PAC market increased by 70%. This year, from January to May, more than 2.1 million split systems were sold. But as the demand fell by the end of June, annual sales for 2011 are expected to be around 2.7-2.8 million units for split systems.

2. Interview with Daikin: Refrigerant Crossroads?Wisdom of the Middle Path

3. Honeywell and Haier Founds New R&D Center in Qingdao, China
A new joint innovation center from Honeywell and Haier was set up in Qingdao, China. Based on it, Honeywell and Haier will work collaboratively on the development and promotion of low-CO2 emission, high energy-efficiency products and solutions.

4. China Releases National Energy-saving Standard for Central ACs
According to China鈥檚 National Standardization Committee, the country鈥檚 national energy-saving standard for central air conditioners, the first technical standard, was approved and will become effective on November, 2011.

5. Toshiba Unveils World鈥檚 First Voice-activated RACs
In stages from early November, Toshiba Home Appliances will release 13 new models in its Daiseikai Voice NDR series of room air conditioners for 2012, which can be operated with verbal commands, thanks to a newly developed voice controller.
