US lab to research caloric cooling materials

Research into the development of caloric materials for more environmentally-friendly refrigeration is to receive a share of $40m of annual US government funding. The US Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory in Iowa will be the home of CaloriCool, a new research consortium sponsored by the US DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
