Western Europe Hit by Second Searing Heat Wave this Summer

Following a one-week heat wave late June, Europe was hit by a ferocious but shorter-lived heat wave that peaked on July 25. The Belgian town of Kleine Brogel hit 39.9℃, the hottest since 1833. The southern Dutch city of Eindhoven broke a 75-year-old national record, with a high of 39.3℃. In Germany, a new record of 40.5℃ was set in Geilen-kirchen, near the Belgian and Dutch borders.
