Alan Field, JARN’s Longtime European Contributor

On May 7, 2020, Mr. Alan Field, a valued and longtime contributor to JARN’s ‘European Press Review’, passed away at the age of 93 in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Alan Field began his career in Building Services straight after college, first in Birmingham and then moving to the south coast with Brightside Engineering, where he became an information scientist, producing the influential Chimney Design Manual among others. After Brightside Engineering closed down, he became a journalist for the Building Services press and his ability to speak French, German, and Italian meant that he was able to report on industry developments across Europe. He also launched and edited the International Heat Pump Bulletin, which had subscribers around the world.
