Mitsubishi Electric Starts Test Operation of Circulation Fans on Railways

2021-02-26
As preventive measures against COVID-19, railway companies have made various efforts to keep users safe from the disease, for example, by opening windows for ventilation, and using antibacterial treatment on seats and straps, etc. Mitsubishi Electric considered ways of improving comfort in subway cars in the Tokyo Metro. As a result, it has been decided to jointly conduct verification in a real environment by operating Mitsubishi Electric’s circulation fans incorporating a ‘healthy air function’ on Tokyo Metro’s Ginza line. The healthy air function is already recognized to be effective in inhibiting viruses and bacteria. The test operation started on November 26, 2020 and will continue until February 28, 2021.
